Preference Parameters Study of Osaka University is conducted mainly with an aim to calculate parameters of preferences defining utility function; time preference, risk aversion, habit formation, externality, carrying out the 21st Century Center of Excellence Program "Behavioral Macro-Dynamics Based on Surveys and Experiments"(2003-2007), the Global Center of Excellence Program "Human Behavior and Socioeconomic Dynamics"(2008-2012) and JSPS KAKENHI ‘Behavioral-Economic Analysis of Long-Run Stagnation(15H05728)' (2015-2019) and JSPS KAKENHI ‘Economic stagnation and widening wealth inequality: Crises of the world economy and a construction of a unified macroeconomic theory(20H05631)’(2020-).

【Japan】
The panel survey has been conducted annually since 2003 using a random sample drawn from men and women aged 20-69 years old by a self-administered placement method. Fresh samples were selected and added in respondents to the survey for wave 2004, 2006 and 2009.
The survey has been conducted by mail survey method since 2021.

【United States】
The panel survey has been conducted annually since 2005 using a random sample drawn from men and women aged 18-99 years old by a self-administered placement method. Fresh samples were selected and added in respondents to the survey for wave 2007, 2008 and 2009.

【China】
For the survey in the urban area, cross-sectional survey and panel survey are carried out. Regarding the cross-sectional survey, it was conducted in six cities (Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Wuhan, Shenyang) in 2006 using a sample drawn from men and women aged 20-69 years old by an interview method. Regarding the panel survey, it has been conducted in six cities (Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Wuhan, Shenyang) since 2009 using drawn from men and women aged 20-69 years old by an interview method.

For the survey in the rural area, corss-sectional survey is carried out. Surveys were conducted in 2007 and 2010. Regarding the survey in 2007, samples of men and women aged 20-69 living in rural areas of two provinces are selected, and the interview method is employed. Regarding the sruvey in 2010, samples of men and women aged 20-69 living in rural areas of four provinces are selected, and the interview method is employed.

【India】
For the sirvey in the urban area, panel survey has been conducted annually since 2009. Samples of men and women aged 20-69 living in urban areas of six cities (Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Calcutta, Hyderabad) are selected, and the interview method is employed.

For the survey in the rural area, it was first conducted in 2012. Sample of men and women aged 20-69 living in rural area of four cities (Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Calcutta) are selected, and the interview method was employed. The survey has been conducted in 2013.
